Every organization must deal with users that need exceptional access for legitimate business reasons that violate policies such as segregation of duties controls. Whether it’s someone being able to request a bonus and approve a bonus in SAP® HR or someone that can issue a purchase order to a vendor in Ariba and pay an invoice to that same vendor in SAP, maintaining access risks is a daily occurrence that needs to happen so the business can meet its operational and reporting objectives. 

Regardless of the reason for maintaining an access risk, segregation of duties controls for financial reporting compliance requires mitigation monitoring of access risks across users and applications. For most organizations it’s a complex, manual and labor intensive task consisting of numerous batch data extracts of user access and transaction data that is then delivered in multiple reports to the business for correlation and analysis. 

Organizations need a better approach for access risk mitigation, one that: 

• Provides automation to quickly and consistently interrogate across thousands or hundreds of thousands of transactions to detect segregation of duties issues (100% coverage) 

• Correlates segregation of duties transactions to the users that are conducting them 

• Enables filtering criteria to rule out false-positive access risks
